Serves as the central office for business assistance. Handles requests for information and services as well as complaints and suggestions from businesses; provides businesses with a forum to comment on federal regulations; initiates meetings on policy issues with industry groups, business organizations, trade and small-business associations, and the corporate community. Develops and maintains macroeconomic models and other analytical tools necessary to analyze a broad range of economic policy issues such as the effects on business of federal legislation, regulations, and programs. Maintains and makes available for public use the Economic Bulletin Board (EBB), the National Trade Data Bank (NTDB), and the National Economic, Social, and Environmental Data Bank.
