Recommended Supplement: Encyclopedia of Business Information Resources

The Encyclopedia of Business Information Resources (EBIR) is an excellent reference book. Every business student should become familiar with its ability to portray such information as: title of a publication or database, author or editor, the name and address of the publisher, telephone numbers (regular and toll-free), year or frequency of issuance, and price. Brief descriptive notes are sometimes added to clarify a listing. In addition to printed and electronic sources, EBIR also directs you to up-to-date information providing organization names, addresses, and telephone numbers. A supplement issue is published with each edition to keep the reader up-to-date.

According to the authors, EBIR has become the first stop in any search for information on business topics. The range of subjects is quite broad because business activity can occur in so many areas of human endeavor. Whether you're interested in such high-tech fields as artificial intelligence, avionics, or urban development, or any one of over 1,200 topics, the search starts here.

To the extent possible, EBIR provides citations on the following categories:

General works Handbooks and manuals
Abstracting and indexing service On-line databases
Almanacs and yearbooks Periodicals and newsletters
Bibliographies Price sources
Biographical sources Research centers and institutes
Directories Statistics sources
Encyclopedias and dictionaries Financial ratios
Trade associations and professional societies

Perhaps the only drawback is that topics are given in alphabetical order, which is fine, but there is no index so you cannot find specific publications.
