BUS 135 Introduction to Business Systems

Course: BUS 135 Introduction to Business Systems, Franklin College Syllabus

Instructor: F. Patrick Butler, Ph.D.

Objective: To study and discuss the concepts of business: (1) philosophy; (2) internal functions (marketing, finance, human resources, production/ service, and management); (3) external environments; (4) and future trends.

Methodology: To employ various means of communication and activities to bring the subject into focus. Course Policies: The Franklin College policies on academic functions and procedures will be strictly adhered to…please carefully review the following: Attendance Policy (see below), Grades and Grading Policy, Code of Conduct (specifically the Statement on Cheating and Plagiarism) all found in the College Catalog.

Attendance: Excused absences only.
Three unexcused absences will result in 10% reduction in final grade.
Six unexcused absences will result in being dropped from the course.

Grades will be based on:


Mid-semester Exam: - 20%
Final Exam: - 30%
Presentation: - 25% (Handed out in class or on web site)
Participation: - 25% (attendance, in-class discussion/projects)
Total: - 100%
Note!! - The student is responsible for all lecture material and reading all textbook assignments; however, not all reading assignments will be covered in class. The professor will be using his own material and selected parts of the text in his lectures.
