Course
Content: This course gives an introduction to the
principles and practices of human resources management. Surveying the areas of human
resource planning, job analysis, recruitment, selection, training and development,
performance appraisal, compensation, labor relations, and outplacement it illustrates how
human resource management contributes to achieve the organizations overall
objectives. At the end of this course students will have developed an understanding of the
strategic value of human resource management. |
Methodology:
The course will rely on lectures, class discussions in a seminar style environment, exams,
research papers, presentations, cases, videos and possibly guest speakers. To aid in the
class discussion students will be expected to bring articles to class which they have
researched and which they feel adds to the understanding of the Human Resource Management
topic at hand. All the articles obtained by the students must be saved in a folder and
handed in at the end of the semester. The students will be required to participate in one
of three projects: (1) Research Papers; (2) Cases; and (3) Presentations. |
