We have a PROBLEM.
In the academic rush to the Internet our student's research techniques are getting lost in the scramble. I believe it is widely accepted on most campuses that student research projects frequently reflect haphazard database searches which often engender wasted time and questionable results. Research papers are filled with all sorts of information, but dubious reference material is produced with little or no thought to quality citations and bibliographies. Relatively few of our students are familiar with classic business references, where to find them or how to use them (administer the Quiz on this site's for a little empirircal evidence).
So what's the SOLUTION?
Certainly, a research techniques course would be nice, unfortunately we can't expect the English 101 folks to know our business/economics databases. But you can still offer your students one of the best business research tools on the Internet: Business Research Sources: A Reference Navigator Online.
